Protokoll zur Durchführung eines Scoping Reviews zur Gesundheit von (dual) Studierenden in Gesundheitsfachberufen im deutschsprachigen Raum

Abstract

Background
This protocol describes the methodological approach of our planned review on the health of students in health professions. Against the background of increasing professional demands for health care services in Germany, the German Council of Science and Humanities advocated in 2012 to qualify a part of the workforce in the health professions at university level. Scientific results about students show us that study-specific demands and challenges can negatively influence students’ health. Interventions to promote student health are becoming increasingly important. To our knowledge, the research literature about students in health professions and their health is not fully comprehensively surveyed in German-speaking regions. Therefore, with the scoping review, we would like to provide an assessment of the existing research literature.

Objectives
We are conducting a review to identify and present research literature on the health of (dual) students in health professions in German-speaking regions.

Inclusion criteria
In the scoping review, we include (dual) students in the health professions of nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, regardless of their country of origin or gender. We draw conclusions on the health of the students by including health indicators on health status, behavior, and personal resources. We include empirical studies and grey literature, regardless of quality.

Methods
This protocol describes the methodological approach of the scoping review, which we are conducting according to the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology.
