»Transoleszenz«?: Einige Überlegungen zu Körperlichkeit, Sexualität und (Trans-)Gender in der frühen Adoleszenz

Abstract

The present article sets out to investigate in detail the complex interplay between the unconscious psyche, the biological body in puberty, and societal recastings extending as far as multiple gender identities. The author proceeds from material garnered from a group of adolescents attending the gender-dysphoria consultation sessions of the Hamburg-Eppendorf University Hospital and identifying themselves as »trans-gender.« In most cases, the concrete motivation was the desire for medical transition (hormone treatment, etc.). The author understands early adolescence as a socio-psychic free-for-all that in itself represents a usually highly conflictual physical and mental transition. Grebe advocates an open and oscillating attitude to these youngsters, and recommends taking our time with regard to medical steps that have become part and parcel of our cultural and societal reality.
