Abstract

The treatment of people with chronic wounds such as venous leg ulcers continues to be a multidisciplinary challenge. Of central importance is the treatment of the underlying diseases and comorbidities. In addition to the compression therapy, required for people with venous leg ulcers, modern local wound therapy should also always be carried out. This is based, among other things, on the phases of wound healing and many other factors, some of which vary greatly from individual to individual, such as pain, slough, exudate, infection status, but also availability and reimbursement.

The decision for treatment concepts should be made together by the therapeutic team in consultation with the patient and, if necessary, his relatives in order to support healing and avoid complications.
