The professional opportunities available to electrophysiologists are diverse and offer a wide variety of career goals. The aim of this article is to show young cardiologists what different career paths can look like if they opt for electrophysiology today. Personal testimonials from five experienced electrophysiologists on their own career paths show decisions, support, obstacles, and destinations of these paths to practice or university professorship. This article aims to support young cardiologists who are considering specialization in electrophysiology during their career planning.
