Abstract

The application of adhesive substances to fingertips is used to prevent or delay the successful collection of fingerprints in the case of identification police treatment. In Germany, superglue is said to be mainly used for these purposes by activists and demonstrators.
A series of tests was conducted on the removal of different adhesive substances from fingertips to perform a successful finger scan.
Commercially available nail polish remover containing acetone proved to be a suitable solvent for all the adhesive substances tested. With this solvent, the adhesive could be removed within minutes without pain, residue or health risk.
