All inquiries were abandoned. CONCLUSION: Fatal complications after pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation attributable to medical malpractice are extremely rare. The study illustrates the importance of a medico-legal autopsy in alleged fatal malpractice cases.",
