Entstehungsbedingungen von sexuell bedingten Schmerzen und Schwierigkeiten beim Geschlechtsverkehr von Frauen: Ergebnisse eines Mixed-Methods-Projektes

Abstract

In this article, a research project is presented which investigates the origins of sexual pain and difficulties with intercourse in women, and employs a set of theoretical, methodological and empirical approaches. Worldwide prevalence rates, the subjective perspective of women with own experiences with sexual pain or difficulties with intercourse on potential origins, and psychodynamic considerations and frameworks were examined by means of a literature review, qualitative analyses (Grounded Theory, psychoanalytically informed research), and a quantitative analysis (statistical analysis of questionnaire data). The results provide inspiration for further research and suggest that the aspects compiled through the different approaches should be examined in more depth both independently and for their interconnectedness. For clinical practice it is relevant to include the different aspects into treatment.
