Abstract

Due to the high impact of substance use disorders (SUD) on a persons life, in particular inpatient rehabilitation treatment should always focus on participation. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) offers an optimal framework for the implementation of participation-oriented treatment. The Modular ICF-based Core Set for Substance use disorders (MCSS) was developed to facilitate the practical use of the ICF. In this article, the module "Medical Rehabilitation" of the MCSS (MCSS-MR) is presented. An exemplary course of treatment according to the RehabCycle illustrates the use of the MCSSMR in clinical practice. For this purpose, previously unpublished data from two research projects, as well continuing education concepts by the authors are used. The MCSS-MR contains a total of 57 categories from the ICF, which were selected as particularly relevant for the treatment phase of medical rehabilitation. In the first treatment step (assessment), the MCSS-MR is used to conduct a comprehensive problem and resource analysis, to prioritize problem areas and to derive treatment goals. In the further treatment process (assignment, intervention), interventions can be assigned and carried out according to the defined participation-oriented goals. In the last step (evaluation), the treatment success can be evaluated using the MCSS-MR. The use of the MCSS-MR therefore requires integration into the treatment plan.
