Comment on McPhail’s (2018) “Age of Onset in Pedohebephilic Interests”. Letter to the Editor

He identified issues and methodological problems in the current literature and aimed to contribute to a more nuanced definition of what is meant by the age of onset for pedohebephilic men and women. First of all, we would like to express our appreciation to McPhail for his contribution to this very important discussion on the age of onset of sexual interest in children. We feel invited to take position to McPhail’s views in light of our own research activities (Tozdan & Briken, 2015a, 2016, 2018). There are both aspects and arguments we definitively agree with and others we would like to discuss.
