This finding was accompanied with improved liver biochemistry, less infiltrating macrophages and less activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) in rAAV/HO-1-transduced livers. CONCLUSION: Enhancement of HO activity in the livers suppresses the development of cirrhosis.",
