N2 - The objectives of this study were to describe and analyse the current aftercare practise following define TBI in four German cities. A retrospective, cross-sectional design was chosen in order to investigate the research questions. Methods and procedures included a questionnaire mailed to parents whose children were admitted with TBI to one of seven collaborating hospitals. A total of 564 parents participated in the study. The results indicate that aftercare services were rarely utilised. Furthermore, it was found that the behaviour of the physician in charge had a great impact on parental satisfaction with healthcare services. In conclusion, the findings described in this article underline the need to improve communication between acute and post-acute services.
