We analyze the role of ADAM10 in the shedding of the prion protein in neurodegenerative conditions characterized by generation of a misfolded isoform of the cellular prion protein. Using two new mouse models this project will dissect molecular pathways underlying neurodegeneration in prion diseases focusing on the protective role of cellular prion protein shedding.
